Taichi and Chikung classes
. Taichi and Chikung are different but complementary disciplines, and each of them helps us better understand the foundations of the other. Taichi (Tai Chi or Taiji) is also known as Taichi Chuan, where the word Chuan, which means 'fist', refers to the martial aspect of Taichi. We develop this aspect in our Taichi and Chi Kung classes but we cultivate it more widely in a specific program called Tai Chi Chuan where we enhance this aspect.
There are many ways to practice and understand these disciplines. Through constant, sincere and open-minded practice, by focusing our attention on conscious movement and breathing we experience states of calm, harmony and general well-being. Furthermore, most exercises can be adapted to our state of physical fitness, helping us to improve our condition. The exercises can be performed even sitting or lying down if necessary.
Benefits of Taichi and Chikung
The practice of both disciplines gives us, among many others, the following benefits:
- Increase the strength and endurance of muscles and tendons
- Improvement of the mobility and precision in the movements
- Increase the flexibility of muscles and ligaments
- Sense of balance, both at the level of postural like attitude
- Greater capacity for coordination, by combining the different parts of our body to perform movement sequences
- Enlargement of the aerobic capacity and cardiovascular system, through the conscious participation and appreciation for all of our agency in the execution of the exercises involved in full each and every one of the systems, and each of the tissues of our body
- In addition to the conscious awareness developed during the practice helps us to focus our mind and make us free of the stresses caused by our daily activities.
Who can practice Taichi and Chikung?
The benefits that the practice brings us are not only indicated for people with previous illnesses or a deteriorated state of health, for whom it can help to reestablish it, but also for people with a starting point of well-physical condition, wish to improve their qualities and maintain them over the long term.
It is therefore a practice also indicated for athletes, workers and active professionals or artists who wish to balance their physical and psycho-emotional state at a deep level, through specific work involving their own body.
